Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the unacceptable changes that have been made to school and urban bus services in the Rockhampton region which have removed dedicated school bus services, meaning school children are forced to transfer multiple times between different services.  The changes are a risk to students' safety and welfare as they are forced to wait unsupervised for long periods and their travel time to and from school has increased significantly.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to reinstate all of the bus services, especially the dedicated school services, that existed prior to the timetable changes in January 2013, reinstate proper funding for school and urban bus services in the Rockhampton region and undertake genuine and meaningful consultation with residents about any changes to bus services so that all residents are aware of any changes before they occur and are not negatively impacted
