TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need for the LNP Government to support the Multicultural Recognition Bill 2012.

 

This Bill is important as it aims to recognise the diversity of the people of Queensland and the valuable contribution of diverse groups to the Queensland community.

 

This Bill will further strengthen what has been a story of success in Queensland. The Bill also aims to promote Queensland as a united, harmonious and inclusive community by establishing:

 

·         the multicultural charter and to ensure government services are responsive to the diversity of the people of Queensland;

·         multicultural action plans;

·         reporting arrangements for departments; and

·         an advisory council.


Your petitioners, therefore, request the LNP Government to support the passage of the Multicultural Recognition Bill 2012 when it comes before the House.
