The petition of the residents of the Atherton Tablelands and surrounding district draws to the attention of the House that the community is concerned with the management and administration of the local office of the Biddi Biddi Community Advancement Co-Operative Limited of 20 Jack Street, Atherton.

The Biddi Biddi Co-Operative was established to meet the housing needs of indigenous low income earners, the disabled and people with health problems to live with their families.  The association has lost direction and it is vital for the indigenous community that it be returned to its original focus.

There is evidence that the Biddi Biddi organisation has refused membership to eligible applicants contrary to the organisation's constitution.  We believe the maladministration of this organisation has also resulted directly in the homelessness of a former board member and indigenous Ngadjon ji elder, Yvonne Canendo, along with her disabled son.

We call for a full investigation into the daily management and finances of the organisation as a matter of high priority.
