The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House their concern for safety for children and other members of the community using the roadway adjacent to the entrance to 559 Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road, Carbrook. This entrance leads to Blue Care's Wirunya Retirement Living Units and Residential Care facility as well as to Calvary Christian College. Over 1000 school children use this entrance twice daily as well as school staff, Wirunya hostel and retirement living unit staff, residents, visitors and contractors. There have also been a number of accidents including, tragically, a fatal accident at this site on the morning of 12 May 2011.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to give consideration to making the entrance to 559 Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road, Carbrook safer for all road users by adding road safety devices including turning lanes at this site.
