The petition of elders, concerned residents and youth of Cherbourg and surrounds in the State of Queensland, an indigenous community approximately 2-3 hours drive north-west of Brisbane, draws to the attention of the House the threat and concerns of juvenile crime.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Minister for Community Services to conduct a major overhaul of the ineffective Youth Justice Act 1992 with particular reference to the enforcement of restitution and compensation.  We, the undersigned, also request community policing be returned to focus on juvenile crime prevention strategies.
