TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that on a daily basis more than 100,000 vehicles travel along the Pacific Motorway (M1) between Logan Motorway and Eight Mile Plains. The Pacific Motorway has eight lanes between the Gold Coast and the Logan Motorway.  From the Logan Motorway traffic becomes stagnant into the Brisbane CBD. Every morning there are reports of traffic banked up between the Logan Motorway and Brisbane CBD.

The Pacific Motorway is the main traffic route between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. With the Gold Coast hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Games, national and international visitors will be attracted to the area, therefore placing more demand on the Pacific Motorway.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to bring forward the upgrade of the Pacific Motorway between Eight Mile Plains and Logan Motorway in time for the Commonwealth Games to be hosted by the Gold Coast in 2018.
