TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the community's concern with the lack of evidence the 3am lockout reduces alcohol related violence, and the problems it causes for residents and visitors to our entertainment precincts. We acknowledge the need to combat alcohol related violence and provide a safe entertainment precinct; however the 3am lockout is not the right policy to achieve this.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to replace the outdated and ineffective 3am lockout policy with a comprehensive new strategy that provides safe and enjoyable entertainment areas for patrons, businesses and residents.
