The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that the Department of Transport and Main Roads is planning an upgrade to the Deagon Deviation and offers two options.

Option A of the DTMR plans to upgrade the Deagon Deviation will have a greater impact on the Deagon Wetlands through the removal of vegetation.  This will impact on the fauna in the area, as well as bring air and noise pollution closer to existing residential properties in Sandgate.

Option B of the DTMR plans to upgrade the Deagon Deviation will have minor impacts on the Deagon Wetlands and will not affect the function of the Deagon Racecourse.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to support Option B of DTMR's plan for upgrade to the Deagon Deviation.
