TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House concern for pedestrian safety for children and other members of the Coombabah State School community along Oxley Drive, Coombabah, with specific regard to the signage alerting motorists of the upcoming school zone when travelling south along Oxley Drive towards the school and the subsequent current state of motorists confusion regarding the exact whereabouts of the school zone area.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to give consideration:

  1. to moving the school zone road markings and signage to north of the Turana/Columbus/Oxley Drive intersection
  2. to the intersection of flashing school zone warning lights upon the Oxley Drive approach to Coombabah State School
  3. the provision of an additional school crossing supervisor for Coombabah State School.
