TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House: the real and extensive reasons that the people of the Redcliffe Peninsula continue to oppose their inclusion in the Moreton Bay Regional Council. Since the amalgamation of the Redcliffe City Council with the Pine Rivers and Caboolture Councils the people of the Redcliffe Peninsula have seen their rates increase dramatically and their services decrease. They have also felt the loss of their identity and reject the ‘one size fits all’ approach to local government that is required of a super council.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House: to immediately begin the process of de-amalgamating the Redcliffe Peninsula and establishing a Redcliffe City Council tailor-made to meet the needs of this community.
