Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the impacts of the proposed changes to the Nudgee Road Northbound Gateway on-ramp to Childs Road on the local community. The primary grievance is the heightened safety risks that will be a direct result of the proposed change.

The proposed change will result in far greater traffic through what are local streets, past schools, childcare centres, parks, playgrounds, bicycle and pedestrian crossings and football club.

The proposed change also provides greater incentive for heavy vehicles travelling east on Toombul Road to use St Vincent's Road to gain access to this on-ramp and the Gateway.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to abandon the proposed changes and seek an alternative. We suggest two alternative routes.

  1. A roundabout at the intersection of Childs and Nudgee Roads with a new northbound on-ramp running off the northern exit of the roundabout.
  2. A double-back on-ramp which initially heads south in front of the service station and doubles back in a northerly direction to join the Gateway Motorway.
