TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need to modify existing legislation requiring that motorists maintain a minimum one metre buffer between their vehicle and a cyclist while overtaking or approaching.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to pass this proposal and provide clear boundaries as it will assist in reducing the incidence of injury and death caused by the interaction between cyclists and motorists.
