Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the recommendation by the National Child Sexual Assault Reform Committee for the establishment of a specialised sex offenders court similar to the New York Sex Offence Court Model which would result in more consistent sentencing and supervision of sex offenders.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to establish a sex offenders court which would ensure appropriate sentencing, intense supervision of offenders through regular compliance hearings, mandated sex offender treatment, rapid response to non-compliance with bail and probation, increases sex offender accountability, increased community safety and better safeguards for victims.
