Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House: That the Mount Morgan Tipperary Point to Redhill Suspension Bridge, an iconic piece of Mount Morgan cultural heritage and a valuable tourism attraction has collapsed due to years of neglect and during works being carried out by the Rockhampton Regional Council to prevent people accessing the walkway. This Bridge, listed on the National Heritage Register since the 1970’s, was the subject of an application to the Queensland Heritage Council for listing on the State Heritage Register at the time of its collapse.

Your petitioners therefore request that the House calls upon the State Government to provide financial and in kind support to the Rockhampton Regional Council and local community organisations to rebuild the Swinging Bridge as a functioning walkway to the original plans and using original materials.
