The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the changes in kindergarten funding that will result in significant reduction in the funding of community kindergartens and consequently their viability.  The government's new funding model will also result in significant increase in fees reducing the accessibility of kindergarten to many families.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to call on the State Government to change the funding model to ensure that kindergartens do not have their funding cut from the levels they have received under DECKAS and that the highly restrictive system that prohibits kindergartens from having the flexibility for children under 3 1/2 to fill vacant positions also be freed up.
