The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to the inappropriate proposed location of a Toll Road Control Centre on gazetted parkland known as Ada Park in a wholly-residential area of Mt Coot-tha adjoining existing homes.

The scale and function of the proposed building are completely out of character with the surrounding residential zone and environmentally sensitive nature of the Mt Coot-tha area.  The proposed 24/7 operation of the facility would have significant negative impact on the adjacent residences and the public's amenity of the area. This development would not be permissible under the Brisbane City Council's own Town Plan and Council should not be exempt from compliance with the Town Plan.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to censure the proposed development of Ada Park and ensure that it remains as parkland in perpetuity.
