TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the total disregard of Energex’s Environment Policy in their proposed placement of high voltage overhead powerlines in the Sunshine Coast.  If executed it will cause great environmental damage to fragile ecosystems, waterways (Eudlo Creek), annihilation of flora and fauna including threats to native fauna, encroaching on a koala corridor, disadvantaging major extractive industries, an ecotourism resort and is a health hazard.

Your petitioners, therefore request the House to instruct Energex to place the energy corridor underground.  This is a truly sustainable solution which will massively reduce the threat to the environment, to flora and fauna, remove the possibility of the permanent scar and ugly pylons from our sight, preserve precious waterways and fragile ecosystems and remove the threat to public health.
