The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of their elected representatives their grievous concerns insofar as the Bruce Highway Development Upgrade Project options presented.Your petitioners therefore request the House to ensure that other options for the Bruce Highway Development are considered proving less detrimental to family homes.• We stand opposed to the proposed 3 options presented for the development of the Bruce Highway on the southern corridor.• We stand united as a local community to object to the destruction of over 380 family homes and businesses, affecting the lives of hundreds to make way for urban progress.• We will not allow Cairns to become a replica of the Brisbane Projects, but rather celebrate our unique location and lifestyle.• We oppose the 3 design options on the proposed plans and recommend alternatives 4 and 5 as more suitable options.• Option 4 – make use of the undeveloped land behind Wrights Creek east of the existing highway.• Option 5 – take advantage of East Trinity inlet to link the southern corridor• We have a right to be heard. It is our livelihood, our lifestyle and our family homes at stake.
