This petition of Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to re-establish a permanent police beat in Beachmere. October 2008 the Beachmere BEAT officer was transferred and to date the officer has not been replaced. Inquiries with the Queensland Police Service established they are currently evaluating several methods of policing Beachmere, including the permanent closure of the BEAT. Beachmere is a growing community which has attracted the attention of new-comers to Queensland due to its idyllic lifestyle and close proximity to facilities and services as well as popular waterways. A permanent police presence is necessary to ensure this lifestyle is protected. Your petitioners therefore request the House to call on the Queensland Government to re-establish a permanent police beat within the Beachmere community.
