Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House the present restrictions in Queensland where domestic rabbits are considered a pest and their possession is prohibited. Not only does this mean they can not be kept as pets but they cannot be kept for purposes such as being used humanely, as food for recovering wildlife.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to remove existing prohibitions and allow the keeping of domestic rabbits, with appropriate controls and restrictions, as is the case elsewhere in the Commonwealth.
