The petition of the residents of Burnett Heads, Queensland, 4670, draws to the attention of the House the inadequate provision of a Police presence in our Township. Your petitioner’s therefore request the House to urgently address this matter. Apart from the busy Bundaberg Port we have two Marinas which are constantly receiving visits by sea-going vessels from around the world. The population of Burnett Heads is currently 3,000 approximately, and growing rapidly. Our nearest police stations are at Bargara and Bundaberg where staff randomly patrol or travel approximately 10-15 kilometres if a call is made. Response times vary according to the availability of officers on duty. Your petitioners, therefore request that the House takes action to ensure that a police officer is placed permanently in residence within our township of Burnett Heads.
