The petition of citizens of Queensland calls on the State Government to subsidise the local bus service through Karana Downs, Mt Crosby, Anstead, Karalee and Chuwar. Your petitioners draw to the attention of the House the fact that the 2006 Census shows 9,372 local residents. Many local residents, particularly high school aged students, the elderly and those who for one reason or another do not have access to, or drive a car need a public transport link. We further draw to the attention of the House that local roads like Moggill Road are already heavily congested and public transport is necessary as an alternative. Residents in the local area deserve to share in Government supported public transport like every other area of Brisbane.
