The petition of the electors of the Division of Burnett draws to the attention of the House that the facilities afforded to recreational “boaties”, fisherman and trailer sailors are currently unsafe and inadequate at Burnett Heads, and at Riverview, Elliott Heads. Your petitioners therefore request the House to urgently upgrade the boat ramp facilities at Burnett Heads and at Riverview. There is an urgent need for floating pontoons at these locations. The pontoons will enable easier loading and unloading of gear on and off boats. This applies to all involved, including the elderly, woman, children and the disabled. The nearby toilet amenities also require an upgrade. A sewerage disposal unit is needed so mariners can safely empty holding tanks. Security lighting in the car park is in need of improvement. Your petitioners implore the House undertakes these measures for the safety of the increasing numbers of recreational boat users and visiting tourists in the Burnett Region.
