TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House: That the proposed closure of the Queensland Government's Seaforth Recreation Centre as of 30 June 2008 will greatly disadvantage countless schools, youth, church, sporting, volunteer, training, music, arts, recreational and other groups from all over Queensland, who have utilised this vital facility over many years. Your petitioners therefore request the House to: Ensure that the Seaforth Recreation Centre remains a facility that is owned, maintained and managed by the Queensland Government and further, that the Seaforth Recreation Centre is publicly advertised and promoted in order that it remain a viable and essential public recreation centre for use by the people of Queensland.
