TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of certain citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the Assembly: That the bushland owned by the Scout Association at Victoria Point, currently zoned conservation, known as Eprapah is the last remaining area of bushland at Victoria Point situated within a sea of residential and commercial development. That a concerted effort needs to be taken to find a solution to the future management of this land, which may include purchasing the property by the Redland Shire Council and State Government in partnership, together with a funded management plan. That opportunities for eco-tourism, continuation of school visits, and activities by the scouting movement should be encouraged, and that it's time for the State Government to look strategically at these issues and without delay. We therefore pray that the Legislative Assembly takes steps to ensure that the land will not be rezoned for development such as retirement village or residential development and that the land be considered for purchase and a funded management plan.
