Personal

Rachel Nolan was born in Ipswich in 1974 and, when elected to the State Parliament in February 2001, became Queensland's youngest ever female MP. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from UQ majoring in government and was named 2006 University of Queensland Young Alumnus of the year.  Rachel was appointed Deputy Government Whip in March 2004.

Rachel studied community development in India with Community Aid Abroad and prior to entering Parliament worked as a Political Advisor to the Northern Territory's then Leader of the Opposition and the Queensland Labor Government. Rachel's policy interest areas include; regional and economic development, education and Aboriginal development. Rachel's other interests include running, bushwalking, mountain biking and reading.
