As Speaker of the Queensland Parliament I would like to welcome you to the Parliament's website. The website has been developed to give you the opportunity to access information about the Parliament, its Members and the services it has to offer.

Through this website you will be able to learn how this Parliament operates, get information on who your local Member is together with information on past Members of the Parliament. You can also get an update on where a Bill is on the parliamentary timetable and have access to current Acts and subordinate legislation. For those of you that are interested in what has been debated by Members you can view Hansard which documents all the debates and proceedings of Parliament and its committees.

There is also an interesting section called historical information which documents the history of the Parliament covering issues such as elections and referendums, sessions of parliament, women in the Queensland Parliament and a range of other fascinating topics.

Apart from the interesting features I have mentioned above, one of the most important aspects of this website is the opportunity it creates for the community to have greater access to the Parliament. My vision is to create a Smart Parliament and this includes making the Parliament more accessible and open to the community. Public tours, visitor information and education play an important role in providing greater accessibility, however, this website creates an opportunity for all Queenslanders to participate especially for those that live in our regional areas.
