Sat on Warwick Bench of Magistrates, holding an official position on the St Marks Church Committee as well as the Warwick School of Arts, the Warwick Hospital Committee and the Royal Agricultural Society; He introduced the paddock system in Queensland to replace shepherding, and that became a turning point in stock management
