Citizenship Ceremony

Speaker Mickel welcomes new citizens

The Queensland Parliament celebrated Citizenship Day by hosting its third citizenship ceremony on 17 September 2011. Speaker John Mickel acted as the Presiding Officer for the ceremony and welcomed 55 people as new Australian citizens.

The citizenship ceremony was held in the Parliament’s Undumbi Room and was also attended by the Minister for Transport and Multicultural Affairs, Hon Annastacia Palaszczuk, Shadow Attorney-General, Mr Jarrod Bleijie, Councillor David McLachlan, Mr Brett Pointing, Assistant Commissioner, Queensland Police Service and Ms Agnes Whiten OAM, Chair , Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland.
