Youth Parliament

A Youth Parliament for Senior Secondary Legal Studies students was conducted in the Legislative Assembly Chamber on 18 March. Over 100 students spoke in the Youth Parliament with another 40 students watching from the Public Gallery. Students debated the Youth School Students Safety Bill 2011, a mock bill with provisions relating to bullying, random drug testing at schools and police move on powers. The Australian and New Zealand Education Law Association (ANZELA) supported the Youth Parliament by donating four book vouchers, which were awarded to the Best Male Speaker, Best Female Speaker, Speaker Conveying the Best Idea, Best Speaker Without Notes.
