Deaf community visit, 7 October 2008

More than 100 members of the deaf community were welcomed to Parliament House to observe their parliament in action and attend a morning tea with Members of Parliament on 7 October 2009.

Parliamentary proceedings were interpreted into AUSLAN sign language by interpreters from Deaf Services Queensland for the Parliament’s first two hours of the day.

Following Question Time, the Speaker of the Queensland Parliament, Hon. John Mickel MP, hosted a morning tea attended by members of the deaf community and Members of Parliament.

This is the third year in a row that proceedings of the Queensland Parliament have been interpreted in sign language for visiting members of the deaf community as part of the NationalWeek of Deaf People.
