Public Tours

Parliamentary attendants conduct a variety of tours from Monday to Friday each week that are designed to suit the general public, special interest groups and school groups. The maximum tour group size is 30 persons and the tour takes approximately 30 minutes.

General Public Tours - Monday to Friday

No booking is required

Tours operate on non-sitting days Monday to Friday starting at the following times:

  • 1.00 pm
  • 2.00 pm
  • 3.00 pm
  • 4.00 pm

Tours operate on sitting days at the following times:

  • 2.00 pm

 

All visitors for tours should enter the parliamentary precinct via the Parliamentary Annexe Building, located on Alice Street (opposite William Street). Tours commence from the visitor information area which is located on the ground floor of the Annexe Building. 

During the tour you will visit and view the Legislative Assembly (Green Chamber), the Legislative Council (Red Chamber), the Members' Reading Room, the honour boards, the Queen Victoria leadlight window, the grand staircase, the Mace, Wind Yarn (the Parliament’s didgeridoo), and Speaker and Sergeant-at-Arms costumed mannequins.

Tours are conducted on week days throughout the year except on public holidays.

On sitting days, the public are also welcome to view Parliament in session from the Legislative Assembly public gallery. Entry to the public gallery is via the George Street visitor entrance to Parliament House.

Special Group Tours

Bookings essential

Special group tours, including NSW schools, TAFE colleges and other large organisation group bookings, operate Monday to Friday. The tours commence from the Parliamentary Annexe public entrance in Alice Street. During the tour you will visit the Parliament House foyer with grand staircase, Legislative Council (Red Chamber),the honour boards and leadlight window and on non-sitting days Legislative Assembly (Green Chamber), Mace, Windyarn (the Parliament’s didgeridoo), Speaker and Sergeant-at-Arms costumed mannequins or on sitting days the Legislative Assembly Gallery.
