Attend a Regional Parliament

The Queensland Parliament holds a sitting of Parliament in a regional area once every term (three years).

The first regional sitting occurred in Townsville between 3 and 5 September 2002. More than 8,000 Queenslanders attended this historic event to view parliamentary proceedings and listen to discussion and debate. There were also public displays explaining the workings of government and how people can get involved in decision-making. The second regional sitting was held in Rockhampton, between 4 and 6 October 2005 at the Pilbeam Theatre. The electorates of Rockhampton, Fitzroy, Keppel, Gladstone, Callide and Gregory were included in the Central Queensland regional parliamentary sitting.
