TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House, the urgent need for a full upgrade and duplication of the overpass at Exit 45, which should also include an additional southbound exit, south of the Pimpama River, to provide more direct access to the western service road extension, between Tillyroen Road and Rifle Range Road, proposed by the City of Gold Coast. As well, the upgrade should also include the green pedestrian bridges, as proposed by the City of Gold Coast, to provide adequate pedestrian linkages and take further traffic off the local roads. The recent completion of the minor upgrade at the Exit 45 Southbound off-ramp, designed to resolve the issue of ramping of traffic back onto the M1, for safety reasons, has resolved the safety concerns, at this time. As expected however, the congestion issues, once traffic leaves the M1, and for residents using the roundabouts and overpass at Exit 45 has become far worse than ever. With the continued residential development, coupled with the additional commercial development at Ormeau, which includes the new Queensland Rail stabling and maintenance facility, due to be completed by 2025, means the traffic congestion experienced every day, will only worsen.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to undertake the completion of a full upgrade of Exit 45.
