Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that Gympie deserves a Police-Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) for a multitude of reasons, primarily centred around fostering community cohesion, providing youth with positive outlets, and enhancing public safety. A PCYC would serve as a hub for community engagement, offering a range of activities and programs for people of all ages, thereby strengthening social bonds and promoting a sense of belonging.

Moreover, by providing constructive recreational activities and educational opportunities, a PCYC can help steer young people away from negative influences such as crime and substance abuse, ultimately reducing youth crime rates and contributing to a safer community. Additionally, the presence of a PCYC can facilitate positive relationships between law enforcement and the community, fostering trust and understanding.

A PCYC could also offer support services for at-risk youth, such as mentoring programs and counselling, addressing underlying issues and empowering young people to reach their full potential. Overall, a PCYC in Gympie would not only enrich the lives of residents but also contribute significantly to the overall well-being and vitality of the community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to ensure a PCYC is built in Gympie.
